May 2025 - Carol Ann Dolinsek
Congratulations to Carol Ann Dolinsek, our May 2025 Employee of the Month! Carol Ann serves as a Community Service Officer with the SRJC District Police Department, where her decades of commitment, calm under pressure, and dedication to safety and service have made a profound impact on the college community.
Carol Ann was born at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto and grew up in Saratoga, California. She later moved to Sonoma County with her family, settling in Sebastopol on a ten-acre property filled with Gravenstein apples. She began her education at SRJC and continued at Napa College, where she completed the Community Service Officer Academy. She has an AA in Child Development and General Education from SRJC and has pursued extensive continuing education in fire, medical, and computer fields, including EMT and swift water rescue training.
Before joining SRJC in 1999, Carol Ann opened a preschool, worked at San Quentin for the state, volunteered as a firefighter/EMT in Sebastopol, and held various positions in hospitality. At SRJC, she has consistently gone above and beyond as a Community Service Officer and dispatcher. She is known for her tireless efforts to keep campuses safe—checking parking lots and equipment, identifying safety issues, mentoring coworkers, and assisting students and staff alike.
Carol Ann’s supervisor, Police Sergeant Brandon Fleetwood, shared, "Carol Ann is the person you want on duty when it counts. Her experience, reliability, and sharp instincts have prevented more than one crisis. She's not just a team player—she’s the glue that holds things together when the pressure is on." Robert Brownlee, Chief of Police, who nominated her, added, "She brings positivity, professionalism, and a huge heart to everything she does. From leading parking equipment projects to literally spotting and stopping fires, her impact is real and lasting."
In her long tenure, Carol Ann has tackled countless challenges—from working through hazardous wildfire smoke and COVID exposure to keeping outdated vehicles and signage functioning. Yet what she treasures most about her job is the sense of community. "We are all cogs in the wheel that turns safely and with a smile," she says. Whether sharing historical insights with new students or teaming up with early morning grounds and custodial staff, Carol Ann embodies SRJC’s spirit of service.
Outside of work, Carol Ann enjoys genealogy, gardening, yoga, and swimming. She and her husband Scott, together for 28 years, treasure their time with family, especially their granddaughter in Alaska who calls her “Gammy.” Their cabin in the Sierras is a beloved escape and “gift of a lifetime.”
Upon receiving this honor, Carol Ann said she felt “grateful and humbled” and was quick to credit the many talented colleagues she works alongside. We are proud to recognize Carol Ann Dolinsek, a dedicated protector, problem-solver, and true community steward.
